They’re back… the criminals who break into unlocked cars. In the last few days, I’ve heard reports from three different residents…on Florida between Shepherd and Taylor St., on Raymond St. east of Florida St. and on Delaware St. south of Spring St.
Sadly, if you leave your cars unlocked, it’s free easy money for them. I know it’s hard to remember to lock all the time, so at the very least, please take anything valuable out of your cars. I am hoping that the reason we have such a spread between cars hit is because the rest of you locked your cars, making it difficult for them to find what they came for. If we can get the reputation for “slim pickings”, perhaps they will search elsewhere and leave us alone!
This is a season when lots of people have contractors around, so it’s very easy for someone who isn’t working for a living but looking to take something to blend into the background…so please, keep your doors locked, don’t leave bicycles unlocked outside and of course, keep your doors locked.
If you see a suspicious person, call the police and let them make a determination regarding their intent. The non-emergency number is: 301 279-8000 to report your concerns about a suspicious person…give as much detail as possible.
